Adoptable Horses
Second Chance Equine Rescue and Sanctuary wants to find good, forever homes for their adoptable horses. In the best interest of our horses, we require a full application be filled out with all references. A farm visit to SCERAS may be required to meet us and the horse you are requesting. All adoptions are based on approval of the home where they will be placed. Please read the adoption agreement and application carefully and fill out completely. The adoption fee for all horses is $100.00. One hundred percent of this money goes back into the support of SCERAS horses.
For the first time or inexperienced horse owner, SCERAS will maintain your horse on our farm for up to a month while assisting you with learning about the horse, their upkeep and needs, and also working with you in the training and development of a bond with your horse. This can be a requirement in some adoptions.

Maggie needs Immediate New Home
I've been called about a horse in need near Fritchburg, KY. A lady has sold her farm and has 1 elderly mare that she has been unable to find a home for. The mares' name is Prides Dandy Lass but she goes by Maggie. Age is 23 years, foaled June 8, 1989. She is registered TWH and KMH and has many miles on her. Hasn't been ridden seriously in several years except for small children being walked about on her. Owner reports some intermittant lameness appearing as arthritis but has not been diagnosed with anything particular and is not on supplements. Easy keeper but has noticed some weight loss past year. She is extremely friendly and "like a pet". Owner has until with April 1st to move from farm. Maggie with be euthanized if a good home is not found. Owner is willing to transport Maggie within 2 hours or so of home or meet someone half way. She is extremely anxious to find her a home. Please cross post everywhere. Adopter will need to fill out modified SCERAS adoption form and reference check. There is no cost involved. Please help us find Maggie a home!!!!

Tyndale is a dream! He's not only beautiful to look at but can move like the wind. His trot and canter are fluid and so graceful.Tynny last raced 1 year ago. He has had some under saddle training and we will continue his re-training until he is adopted. He will make an excellent English horse. Tynny cannot jump due to arthritis in both front legs but is sound and will make someone a very happy horse owner! Tynny is also up to date on all farrier and vetting. Tyndale is the grandson of Seattle Slew and also Olay's Slew's son!
Update March 20, 2011 ! Tyndale has been adopted by a wonderful family in Ohio. He will be transported within the next couple of weeks to his new home.
UPDATE June 14, 20011: Tyndale was brought back to our Sanctuary after adopter failed to follow through with adoption contract issues. He is doing great and would love a new home with plenty of TLC. He is a sweetheart but will always need supplements etc for arthritis in front knees and pasterns.

Olay's Slew

Olay's Slew is a big bunch of love! Olay is an 20 year old TB mare that last raced as a 2 year old. She has been a brood mare ever since then, but lost her last 3 babies. She was going to be put down if a good home wasn't found. Olay had not been ridden since her racing days. She would make a great, calm companion for anyone. Also up to date on farrier and vetting.
3 year old OTTB
I visited a 3 year old OTTB this am. He is a gelding that was claimed off the track in July 2010. After workup and XR's He is a gelding that was claimed off the track in July 2010. After workup and xr's he was found to have an old fracture of rt knee. No telling how long he had raced on this. The owner will not put further money into him and Thunder will be put down if a new home isn't found by the e...nd of the month. The trainer has been trying to find a home without success. He has a great pedigree but will come without papers to ensure he doesn't race again. I handled him this morning and he is a sweetheart. Very good mannered, youthful personality. He looks like he hasn't grown into his body yet. He is around 16.2 or 3, good feet. Very, very sweet. The vet predicts he will make a great riding horse for the lucky one to adopt him. He is a bit head shy, the trainer believes he has been roughly handled from previous owner. Please help us find him a home.
Thunder has been adopted by Rebecca Christians from Autumn's ReRide Youth Ranch. He was renamed Revelation and has already opened emotional doors for humans needing connection. Rebecca reports he is a very special and sweet horse.
